I recently held a contest for people to draw the Gromble, or create any kind of art relating to him. The winner was BlackPie with THIS incredible knitted interpretation. I was just blown away by it, and then… she offered to mail him to me. I was ecstatic. I got him in the mail today, as well as these other incredibly thoughtful surprises. I was sobbing like a baby, holding little ball-jointed knitted Boogle, with her movable joints and everything… and the eyeball + eyeball drawstring bag, which were made to look like Vera’s own eyes. It’s so incredible to receive gift art, but to receive something like these… hand-made, tangible, cuddle-able creations… I was overcome with joy and immediately went to nap with them <3 I cried myself to sleep. The first happy cry I’ve had in a very long while. It may sound stupid or over-dramatic, but I just appreciated them so much and I just know they will provide me with so many smiles in the future. <3
Just some works in progress I found in an old folder.
The halfway-inked Boogle was going to be her new ref, and she was coming out -exactly- as I imagined her. A more doll-like face, bigger eyes & lips, hair dragging the ground, and curvy bjd body. <3
The painting was going to be a scene from my childhood, I spent my time playing in the 40 or so acres of woods my grandparents owned back in West Virginia. It was so magical there; I played by myself from dawn until dusk with my imaginary friends, singing songs and studying bugs I’d find. There was a particular patch of moss that was so magical, the sun would beam down onto it with tall trees perfectly encircling it all around me. I’d nap there until a bird or deer would wake me up. I don’t miss much about WV beyond the wildlife, specifically on my grandparents’ land. The mountains, lush trees, cool air, big rocks, the smell of moist earth, thick, soft moss, hiding places and secret nooks… something so mystical about it in the Spring-Autumn months.
1 follower away from 400! Probably not that impressive XD but thank you guys :o) (Also using this as my deviantART ID)

I just had to share this awesome commission I bought from kinasaur. I asked for Boogle cuddling a Gromble plush that looked well-loved and patched up, and she delivered splendidly :o)

I’m not typically fond of drawing the Gromble out of character, but Boogle isn’t really a human, so maybe the Gromble wouldn’t be repulsed by her. Actually she IS a monster (penanggalan) and her “human” body is just a doll form… and considering Gromble once accepted a human-looking monster named Blastoog… maybe the Gromble -could- actually love her in reality and would provide her comfort…
*sigh*

Boogle and my cat, Eyeball on some cushions. She’s gettin so big ;3; I love cushions/tuffets/throw pillows/anything similar… my house is quite filled with them x3 Anyhow, will color this later, more than likely.

Spooky speedpaint #4 of 13. Rickets is a ghost/monster girl I made in 2007. I haven’t drawn her much lately, and it was suggested to me that I paint her for the 13 speedpaints, so I couldn’t resist drawing her with some cute little spooky frunds. :3 I actually timed this one, 35 minutes! Getting a bit faster, though Rickets is super simple.

I’d intended on doing a spooky speedpaint every day of October, but I’ve been busy so the last 13 days will have to do. Hopefully I can keep up, I’ve got commissions to do and lots of Halloween-y things to plan with friends, and if I keep putting so much time into these as I did with this one, I may be skipping some days x_x but I’m going to do my best!
This probably took about 50 mins, way longer than I’d hoped to make these. Hopefully I will learn to be faster without it looking like crap. I took some inspiration from one of my favorite artists and friends, loppypon here on tumblr. I feel so much envy for how she’s able to make her speedpaints look so deliciously chunky and delicate at the same time. There’s a degree of confidence in her style that I hope to achieve one day. I tend to spend way too long on “speedpaints” because I feel I’m just one of those artists who can’t make something look good without obsessing over every detail. My faster art looks so muddy and obviously thrown together poorly. ANYWAYS *having one of those days where I could beat myself up for hours*… here’s a Boogle doll leaking ooze with orange-y yarn hair inspired by a gift art from my best friend, Farore. <3
