This is the first sheet of a comic I’m commissioning from axolotl-mafia. I knew she would be just perfect for illustrating the backstory to my clown/penanggalan character, Boogle. She’s doing an amazing job so far, I just can’t believe it. This is the most meaningful thing I’ve ever commissioned <3 I imagine it will be 5-6 sheets (maybe 20-30 pages) long in the end, but that could change. I have had this story in mind for a while now, but only just felt comfortable sharing it with the world… it’s very personal to me, even though it makes Boogle almost like a fan character, since I’ve made the world of AAAHH!!! Real Monsters her home. It just means so much to me, and I’ve daydreamed about being in the Monster Academy so many times, it just feels right (o:

I’ll be editing these into storybook-like pages with text I’ve written to go along with each image. I want to have it printed into a book one day, just for myself. ;u;

This artist is an awesome person and great friend to me, so I trust her fully with my ideas. Go watch her and also peek at her other comics including Galaxy Magnolia!

Photo 1: We opened gifts at my grandma’s house. She’s had that creepy-ass Santa for as long as I can remember. I recall being right about its height and being scared as FUCK of it in the basement where he dwelt. My grandma used it to keep me out of the storage room.

Photo 2: Eyeball had perhaps the best Christmas of all of us :P I sewed her a stocking and filled it with various toys and treats. Her favorite things are the bouncy 8-shaped things.

Photo 3: She also got this for Christmas and has been thoroughly enjoying smacking at our faces from the top shelf (it was situated by the door, but now it’s in the corner where she can’t greet us with a paw in the eye) XD

Photos 3-6: Super-thoughtful gift packages from beloved friends from Australia to California… you guys know me so well, it’s absurd… I’ll cherish these things and always will be reminded of you when I see them!

Photo 7: My parents got me this and I almost cried. I’ve been wanting the RM cookie jar for SO LONG, but it was always listed for such ridiculous prices on eBay. My first question was “I really hope you guys didn’t over-pay for this!” I felt so bad at the idea of them getting this on eBay where they’re usually so overpriced, but thankfully they got quite a deal on it. And it even came in the original box, had never been touched.

These are just a few photos of presents… the real joy was coming home and seeing my family again. I was glad to have found presents for all of them this year, too… they can be hard to buy for, especially my Dad! Now to go make my grandma an awesome breakfast :)

I forgot to say it was closed, so came back to find that nightmaren, orima-kazooie, morgueflowersandhumanmeat & becdecorbin all drew Grombles as well! ;o; so it’s only fair I try to do art for as many of you as possible. I’ve asked what you all wanted in return (if I missed anyone, send me a message with what you’d like!), and I’ll post them as they’re done. :3 I’ll probably do this again soon! First person to draw a picture of the Gromble for me gets a free sketch. GO

I recently held a contest for people to draw the Gromble, or create any kind of art relating to him. The winner was BlackPie with THIS incredible knitted interpretation. I was just blown away by it, and then… she offered to mail him to me. I was ecstatic. I got him in the mail today, as well as these other incredibly thoughtful surprises. I was sobbing like a baby, holding little ball-jointed knitted Boogle, with her movable joints and everything… and the eyeball + eyeball drawstring bag, which were made to look like Vera’s own eyes. It’s so incredible to receive gift art, but to receive something like these… hand-made, tangible, cuddle-able creations… I was overcome with joy and immediately went to nap with them <3 I cried myself to sleep. The first happy cry I’ve had in a very long while. It may sound stupid or over-dramatic, but I just appreciated them so much and I just know they will provide me with so many smiles in the future. <3

This was my birthday cake. My parents are awesome.

My RM snowglobe is here already!!! Omg omg omg <3 I will get better photos of it later, but for now, here it is with all my RM plushes. The rest of my RM collection can be seen ~HERE~ on my flickr. It’s still nothing compared to my friend Lauren’s, though!

…did I seriously just win this INSANELY RARE Real Monsters snowglobe for $25??…*freaking out* I’ve been hunting this thing down for about 7 years now… it’s been like my holy grail. Oh my god. It should arrive a day or two after my root canal XD I’m going to cuddle with it in bed like a freak :I

Now all I need is the cookie jar, plush trash can, gromble straw holder, and the massive FunHouse game…..

So yeah, introducing Boogromble :B Because I have nothing better to do at 7:38 a.m. after a night of not sleeping than draw my clown girl in a Gromble costume.

I’m not typically fond of drawing the Gromble out of character, but Boogle isn’t really a human, so maybe the Gromble wouldn’t be repulsed by her. Actually she IS a monster (penanggalan) and her “human” body is just a doll form… and considering Gromble once accepted a human-looking monster named Blastoog… maybe the Gromble -could- actually love her in reality and would provide her comfort…
