This is awesome, but they cropped out the beautiful border!
Bleh, I hate that I got bored with this. It just wasn’t coming out as I’d hoped. Stupid fat ugly Boogle. Having one of those “I hate my art” days, I guess. I like how the Oogles were coming out, though! I like to imagine them as little creatures that can form their optic nerves into male/female or animal bodies, even just 8 spidery legs or one long tendril they can slug around on.
(Ignore the mess; was building a plushie wall, you know… for fun >.>… dat laundry pile -shame-)
I’ve been rather busy the past few days with a new cat I did not plan on adopting at the pet store (a lady from the shelter was showing him and several kittens there). I saw him, I petted him, he rolled over and… that was just it. I called my mom asking her to talk me out of it, but she wasn’t of much help :P
He was going to be put down; no one would take him, as he’s at least 5 years old. He was abandoned by his former owners after they moved, so he just became a “neighborhood cat”, fed scraps & frequently in fights with other cats. He has patches of fur missing, an infected cut on his ear that I’m treating, and for the first day, he wouldn’t open his left eye, but it seems fine now. The lady I got him from gave me papers showing his recent vet visit and where he’s been microchipped and fixed. His name was “Mr.”, I’m still unsure of a new name for him! I was thinking Roger or Mocha, but nothing “feels” right yet. I’ll probably figure it out after I get to know him better :) Did I mention he smells like the forest? Kind-of a weird thing to reminisce about, but the smell reminds me of the smell of wild animal fur from when my grandpa would go hunting and give me squirrel tails, yes I smelled them and thought they smelled nice. *Had the most hillbilly upbringing ever*
ANYway, Eyeball is taking to him VERY well. They’re not quite to the cuddly stage yet, but they lay rather close to one another to nap and bathe. He is so gentle. Eyeball smacked him a good one when I first brought him in, and he just sat there. Guess he’s used to getting beat up. ;.; Despite the age gap (Eyeball is about 1 1/2 years old), they’re both right about the same size! I switched them in different rooms for the first day, then he slipped through one day and I saw that they weren’t reacting too badly at all, so I let them roam together any time we’re both here to supervise. He never hissed, he’s such a sweetie. Been giving Eyeball extra lovins just to keep her reassured that she’s still my spoiled stinky-kitty-Ibbleteets, and that will never change :P Anyway… one cat closer to crazy cat lady status, I reckon. :B
Photo 1: We opened gifts at my grandma’s house. She’s had that creepy-ass Santa for as long as I can remember. I recall being right about its height and being scared as FUCK of it in the basement where he dwelt. My grandma used it to keep me out of the storage room.
Photo 2: Eyeball had perhaps the best Christmas of all of us :P I sewed her a stocking and filled it with various toys and treats. Her favorite things are the bouncy 8-shaped things.
Photo 3: She also got this for Christmas and has been thoroughly enjoying smacking at our faces from the top shelf (it was situated by the door, but now it’s in the corner where she can’t greet us with a paw in the eye) XD
Photos 3-6: Super-thoughtful gift packages from beloved friends from Australia to California… you guys know me so well, it’s absurd… I’ll cherish these things and always will be reminded of you when I see them!
Photo 7: My parents got me this and I almost cried. I’ve been wanting the RM cookie jar for SO LONG, but it was always listed for such ridiculous prices on eBay. My first question was “I really hope you guys didn’t over-pay for this!” I felt so bad at the idea of them getting this on eBay where they’re usually so overpriced, but thankfully they got quite a deal on it. And it even came in the original box, had never been touched.
These are just a few photos of presents… the real joy was coming home and seeing my family again. I was glad to have found presents for all of them this year, too… they can be hard to buy for, especially my Dad! Now to go make my grandma an awesome breakfast :)
Boogle as she was drawn in 2007 vs a picture of her I just finished. She’s changed a lot, as you can see. I think she has a more realistic, weighted look, and looks more like me, which is good since she IS me. Her hair is longer and more doll-like and her flesh, when visible, is more purpley-toned and less human-looking, which is also good since she isn’t technically human. Her outfits are more whimsical and girly, as well.
Anyway, I just found this when sifting through old art, and thought it’d be fun to re-do it, since I don’t think I’ve drawn her juggling since the old version!
First two pictures were taken the day she was found at the gas station (July 4th). Last two are recent :) She is the first cat I ever really had who was my own responsibility. She had a horrible case of fleas and ear mites, and was quite thin when I first caught her. She’s had 3 vet visits so far, has been microchipped, had all her shots and vaccinations and has been spayed. She also has her own wardrobe and seems to actually enjoy being in cat clothes, and plays in water and tries to come in when I take a shower. She only ever sleeps on me. If I scream or make an abrupt sound of any kind, she comes running from any room in our house and starts meowing at me. ;_;
Here are some videos of her being the best cat ever:

I love this cat so fucking much. She has to live forever! <3

Just going through my Eyeballs folder and rediscovered this beautiful creature. I have no idea where this came from, but he’s like something out of my dreams…
This chair…… I wish to touch it so badly. ;_;

I decided on these eyeball items from Cracker Barrel. The pink one is a compact mirror :) We wound up eating there as well for the first time. I’ve had worse breakfast food :P

:0 Cracker Barrel HERE I COME. A Twitter friend took this pic and said it made her think of me. :D So glad she did, can’t wait to get some of these thingggs
Here are some of my works I chose to take tomorrow to a fancy coffee tasting/art showing/live music type thing that I was invited to. Upper-left was an Alice in Wonderland-themed commission that I altered a bit, the lion was recently re-painted from THIS older work from 2005, then there’s the teapot lady, which I made much less saturated (I’d painted it on my laptop originally, which has a very dull screen) and gave her a top (since I’m not sure cleavage would be fully appropriate). “KitschyMonster” was done in marker and is the only non-print item besides the tiny, framed Gromble on the bottom-left. The Eyeball in Space painting was done recently, and the seamonster lady is another slightly edited commission from a while ago that I always rather liked. I’ll probably also have a folder with some of my original sketches.OH, and it’s hard to see, but the ribbons have little coffee/tea cups on them! ;3;
I hope no one wants to buy these or commission me, since the idea of doing commission work locally is just… I don’t know. I’m probably not really built for that type of commission work, it’d probably put a lot of pressure on me. I’m just hoping to have fun and maybe talk to some people. Here’s hoping it won’t be too awkward and I won’t make a fool of myself! If I do, at least Nick and I will be leaving directly after to go across the state to visit his dad for a week, so I can run away and hope everyone forgets I exist. :D
OPTIMISM!
